The Transition & your 90-day plan

So, you have made this significant role change or promotion! Well done! Now, how do you ensure success in the new role, specifically in the first period? This is where the 90 day transition plan comes in.

It is key here to really understand what is required from you in this role, which may be very different from what was needed in your previous role. It is critical to quickly get a handle on the expectations of the organization, your new management, what are the burning issues? How effective is your current team, are there opportunities for early changes to increase motivation and at the same time improve the team’s output? This is typically a stage in your career where you will want to work with a coach to help you handle the many aspects of change that you are going through.

At this new organizational level, there will be more demands on your time to guide and develop people, whether that is coaching the people in your team or mentoring people outside your direct organization.
